Green Colada smoothie (It’s 5 o’clock somewhere)

Addicted to green smoothies yet? Or don’t like bananas (to me, that’s like disliking nut butter – I can’t even imagine it)! Wishing you were on a beach somewhere with a drink and a tiny umbrella?

Then this drink is exactly what you need. Plus, pineapple which is great for reducing inflammation (I like to drink this after a tough afternoon workout. Around 5.).

Green Colada Smoothie

Serves one

1 cup diced (fresh) pineapple

1 t coconut oil

1 T raw walnut butter (you can substitute other nut butters if desired)

1 cup spinach (tightly packed)

1 c almond milk (vanilla, unsweetened)

Blend. Enjoy.

I like to enjoy this mid-morning or mid-afternoon – right when I was wishing it was 5 o’clock where I was.  And it’s perfect all weekend long.

  1. I love this recipe because its really different! I want to give it a try, but I might need to sub the walnut butter for something else. (Do you make walnut butter or buy it?) I’ll need to make sure I get some pineapples at the grocery store tomorrow!

    • I do make my own walnut butter, but I usually mix it with almonds or cashews. But I think using almond bitter would still be really good in this.

  2. Pineapple in smoothies is the best!! So I can’t get my Magic Bullet to blend spinach very well at all. I’ve gone back to the food processor for green smoothies. Any tips?

    • Hmm… I don’t have trouble, but I always combine with frozen bananas which seems to help the blending process overall. Also, it takes me a few minutes of blending too. I’ve never blended with anything else though do it just might be that I don’t know what I’m missing!

  3. I think you left out a key ingredient on your list (#green)! 😀

So psyched for tomorrow – have my draft going already … and since I tasted the product I know it is good!

For me – I love a glass of wine with Lisa, no TV, to computers, just the two of us chatting on the couch, like we did after she got home from work last night. What more do I need to celebrate?

    • Good catch! Updated. Apparently it’s going to be one of those days!

I’m so glad – I can’t wait to see what you post!

  4. I’m so excited about this smoothie link up. I’m not a big smoothie drinker, but I fell in love with the mexican chocolate one you posted a month (?) ago. I’m really looking forward to trying some new recipes. Thanks!

  5. Yum, I love pineapple in smoothies! I need to work out a way to get my smoothies in – I haven’t been having them since moving into the new place as most of my housemates work in bars, so are asleep in the mornings. I fear it’s a bit mean to turn the blender on too early. Hmm, what to do!

    • Oooh, I totally understand that dilemma! Can you pre-make them the night before then do a quick shake in the AM? Also, I’d love to have you join Sunday Smoothie – do you have a recipe to share?

  6. Looks very refreshing! Like Caeli, I love pineapple in my smoothies. If I get myself organized today, I would love to join your Smoothie Link Up. And, YES, I am sooooooo dreaming of the beach right now….

    • Me too! And if you can’t get one up today, I’ll keep the link-up open all week! I’d love to see your recipe!
